How I Was Healed Of Cancer – Vast Of Singing Group, Bracket

After seven months of undergoing treatment for Lymphoma, a type of cancer of the blood, in Platinum Medical Centre, Wellington , London , Nwachukwu Ozioko, popularly known as Vast of the singing group, Bracket is back. He returned to the country last week and was treated to a grand reception by his friends. In this interview,Vast who is still recuperating recounts how he battled with the deadly disease  and came out alive.

How did it happen?

I don’t know what to say, but first of all, I want to give thanks to  God. I was very sick. Before I went to the hospital, I attended a couple of shows. I wondered how I was able to perform at the shows because I was seriously ill. My partner, Obumneme Ali a.k.a Smash  and I had series of shows and in a situation where payment  has been made, I  had no option than to grace the stage. We decided to round off our shows late last year in order to enable me take care of my health in 2013. But unfortunately, up till January, this year, we were still going for concerts. We  even had to travel to Australia to stage a concert.

Then, I was visiting one of the hospitals in Lagos, and that was where I was diagnosed. They carried out all the medical examinations, and when the results came out, the Haematologist advised me to seek for further treatment  abroad.

If you have travelled to America or any Schengen country within two years, you can apply for a Priority Visa and we were   qualified to do so. We  applied and within four days, the visa came out. We met a friend in the UK who introduced  us to his brother who is a Medical Doctor. He assisted us and we met a Haematologist who advised that I should re-run all the tests again.

The only thing we didn’t do was the surgery which I did back home before I was diagnosed of suffering from blood cancer. After everything, they started with the treatment they called ‘Bone Marrow’. It wasn’t an easy one, it was very difficult. I thought I would loose all the blood in my body but thank God I survived it. After a week, I started having complications, I had to return to the hospital to have blood transfusion after which I felt better. We spent a lot of money. At  a point, I was hopeless and was only praying to God for His mercies.

After the second chemotherapy, I started exercising because the doctor advised  me to do regular exercise. However, it was after the third chemotherapy that the pictures I took while in the hospital  leaked. By then, I was already bouncing back to life because I passed through the valley of the shadow of death.  After the fourth chemotherapy, we shot a video, ‘Temperature’ in London .

I didn’t even know I could do that. I initially thought the cycle would be six but before the fifth chemotherapy, the doctor informed us that it was going to be eight. I got confused at that point and even doubted what they were doing. I thought they just wanted to milk me because it was expensive. My manager, partner and  Chief Executive Office however encouraged me to complete the treatment.

I was only going to the hospital, then to the gymnasium and back to the house. After the seventh chemo, I was told to do a Lumber Punch- they would have to inject my spine. It was done after the fifth chemo and it was very painful. I thought I would be paralysed. I was told the Lumber Punch was necessary to prevent the disease from getting to the brain. At that point, our account was almost in the red.

Luckily, a friend known as Ugonna came to London during my third chemo and was moved when he heard that we had accommodation problem. He later gave us some money to look for one.  Ugonna was the only person that assisted me financially apart from the prayers and encouragement of my fans and the media. I did the Lumber Punch and lost a lot of blood.

Two days after, I went to get another chemo. When one undergoes chemo, it kills both the good and the bad cells and flushes out all the blood in your system. So, you have to be refreshing. Imagine losing so much blood after the Lumber Punch and after the chemo. I was almost a dead person. My colour   overnight. I remembered what the doctor told me that cancer is not the problem but the treatment.

After a week and a half, I started exercising, taking juice and everything that would help build my blood again. I was finally cleared from the hospital and I thank God for His mercies.  A lot of people came to our  house to rejoice with us when we  returned to the country during the week. I want to thank them. The likes of P-Square, Jimmy Jatt, Dammy Krane, KCee, Chidinma, Illbliss, JMartins and many others.

What kind of cancer did you have?

I had Lymphoma. It is a blood cancer. When I asked the doctor what could the cancer of the blood, he said, nobody knows the cause for now. According to him, it’s  like a situation where  a dark complexion couple  making a baby and the baby turns out to be an albino and if you are asked to explain why, you cannot tell.

I must say that when I was hospitalised, my partner was doing a good job. He would call the producer and they would make a beat and send it to me. He even made the chorus. I picked one of the songs when I came back and hit the studio. We did one of the tracks, it was fantastic. We did another song and it was good as well, all within two days.

During the seven months of your ordeal, what kept you going?

What kept me going was God. Before I went for the treatment,  I saw myself dying slowly. We got the visa and contacted the Medical Doctor that attended to us. It was no doubt the handiwork of God. This doctor handles only cancer related cases. My family, my manager, partner and CEO were there for me. We travelled together. They made sure I was well taken care of, while my ordeal lasted.

Interestingly,  when the picture I took while in the hospital leaked, I was reading the outpour of love, prayers and soothing words from my fans. Some of them even said, they would die if I die. Then the press guys were there for me. They  were  keeping tabs of my progress and informing my fans duly.  All of these,  did a whole lot in keeping me going. That’s why I got the courage and I know that it has always been God, my family, the media and my fans.

What have you learnt from your experience?

I learnt that life is very precious. No matter what you do and wherever you are, don’t look down on anybody because you don’t know who will help you tomorrow. Another thing is that you don’t have to be scared of death. You have to face the challenge. Live a normal life. If you are scared of death, you will die. At a point, when I got very scared,  the sickness came in full force, but when I started picking courage, it subsided and I recovered.

Actress Stella Damasus Advices Women on Keeping Their Men

Actress Stella Damasus took to her blog yesterday to advice women on how to keep their men.

Read it below:

Hello ladies,

Been a while since you read from me and I am sorry about that. However I never said I would be the only one writing for this blog. I threw it open to members to send in their articles, concerns, challenges, questions and other things to the Adiva email address and we will publish it.

Not only that, we will get the experts/professionals to help answer some of your questions, I am still waiting to hear from you all.

Anyway I have good news and that is the fact that you will be able to watch me talk more/elaborate on things I will write in the blog. Yes o my YouTube channel will be very very active soon with my new project called Stella’s diaries.

You all need to look out for it because it will be very exciting as usual. I will say it the way I see it and I am sure by now most of you know I am not ashamed or afraid to speak my mind.

Anyway let me go to the topic I want to discuss today “keeping your man”.This is for the married women o please this is not targeted at single girls.

Now we know that the one thing men cannot live without apart from money is SEX. In this forum I really don’t care where anyone is from or what religion you belong to, I will be as raw and honest as possible.

I do not understand why women especially Africans do not talk about sex when we know that it is the one thing we do regularly with so much pleasure.

Anyway our men love sex to the max and we know that for a fact. So how come when we are dating them we are so willing to give them what they want even though we know it is wrong. The first few years of marriage is filled with sex almost five times a day in different parts of the house and at odd hours, but after the few years we start to back down, we start to make excuses, we start to see it as a chore and then we let them know that we are really not interested in them physically.

Wow, what happened to the lady fox, the hot chic, the sexy cat that he got married to?
What happened to the babe that would understand the signal he would give and immediately comply?
What happened those times when he would race home to his sexy energetic ever ready wife who would make him feel wanted?

I know that most of you will say “I have kids who wear me out, I have work that drains me, I got older, my sex drive has gone under, I have a headache” to the point that the man will need to get a visa at your “embassy” to visit his favorite place in the World.

When you do this to him, how do you expect him to come home everyday to look at your tired, grumpy and unfriendly face?

How would you expect him to come home to you complaining about the plumber, your child that was being rude, and your boss that gave you a hard time?
NOOOOOOO please.

At that point he wants you to take him to that special place were the sky is so wonderful and turn his brain around to the point that all you say will sound like sweet music to his ears.
These men are human beings who go through their own challenges, half of which you don’t even know because they are trying to save you from all the stress.

What annoys me the most is when we women start to complain and nag about the men not having time for us, and how they no longer find us attractive anymore and that’s where the suspicion starts. That’s when the saying comes, “if he is not getting it from me someone else must be giving it to him’.

I don’t encourage cheating at all in fact it goes against what the bible teaches no matter what. I will not also judge anyone who has been caught in a web he is not proud of for one reason or the other. I believe that if we are truly sorry for our sins and we go to God with the determination not to sin again, he is merciful and will forgive us.

In all of this I know that all men are not beasts, neither are they evil because we married them. I also know that men do not get married and carry it at the back of their minds that they must cheat. That’s not how it works please. There are things that we do that trigger things in their brains and these things drive them to do things that they really would not have done. Most of us believe it when they say men don’t think with their brains but they think with their penis. I beg to differ because they know what they are doing and I don’t see how the penis can have a brain that will control the whole body. There is always something that sparks off in the brain that sends the signal to the penis.
You may or may not agree with me but this is what I choose to believe. Most men we married are not so evil and dubious, some may be cowards but cast your mind back to the kind of man you chose to marry and see if there were traces of that character or not.

What men want:
- They want to feel like they are in control of things which is not bad because they are the head.
- They want to feel loved and like it or not they are our first babies who desire words of affirmation no matter how macho they seem.
- They want to feel WANTED all the time, it gives them the confidence that all men crave for.
- They want to know you are still sexually attracted to them.
- They don’t want you to make it obvious that you are smatter even if you are.
- They like their space and alone time.
- They don’t want to come home to a fat mama who is the opposite of the sexy curvy woman he fell in love with, because she let herself go after they got married. Why should she try and look the same? She is married now, who else does she have to impress? WRONG! Men are first of all moved by what they see before anything else. So when they can’t see that anymore or at least an effort to getting back that body that turned them on, they’ll probably lose interest in you and find it in someone else.
- They don’t want to come and hug you after work with you are smelling of onions and oil. At least take a shower before he gets there or if there is no time spray perfume.
- They want to come home to a nice smelling neat and tidy home.
- They want to walk into the bedroom with the bed all made up and clothes arranged. Maybe a small note on his pillow saying I love you and I am glad you are home, that definitely puts an automatic smile on his face even if for three seconds, it keeps him interested in you
- They want you to be a good listener not just a talker.
- They want to know that you believe in them and you are proud of them.
- They want to know that no matter what you will have their back and support them, then ask questions later.
- They just want to see that you are making an effort because no human should expect you to be perfect.
- They don’t want another mother but they want you to take care of them the way you would your kids.
- They want a wife, girlfriend, sorry to say (personal call girl) which is not a bad thing because he is your husband who is free to express his sexual desires as long as they are not life threatening or demeaning.

There are so many things I can add and you will not stop reading so let me end this by saying: if you do not try to do at least 60 percent of this regularly, trust me a younger version of you will cross his path and that is exactly how the enemy works. When that younger and more energetic version of you catches his eye, your matter will quietly end. This girl will rock his world so bad that coming home to you will become a chore. These girls can give him all these things and even more that the men find it so difficult to resist. All the money that was supposed to go to you and your children will find their way to her pocket. They can get anything they want from your man because they know the secret to getting and keeping him.

I know that this article will cause a lot of controversial wahala but it is fine because in life people don’t like to hear the truth. This might also be an opportunity for people to make silly comments but the truth is I am loving it all. I finally have the attention of people who will ordinarily not want to listen to me or watch me.

Ladies on a more serious note, if you are guilty of these crimes and are depriving your husband of what is rightfully his then don’t be shocked when a younger version of you gets the best of him.
I will let you all know when the extended version of this topic will be on my YouTube channel. God will bless your homes and give you the wisdom you need to keep it together.

Think about this objectively, try out what you agree with and discard what you don’t. Leave the messenger out of it for a change and see the bigger picture ahead.

Take care of yourselves and remember that I love you all.

How My Car Once Disgraced Me At PSquare’s Home - Teju Babyface

The comedian and host of popular Teju Babyface show hours ago shared a quick but hilarious story with his fans. He narrated the story thus:

“In the year 2011, when I went to invite Peter and Paul of P-square to invite them to The Teju Babyface Show, they were very nice and quite cool with being on the show. After praising us for doing a good show so far, they escorted me outside.

Their mom (of blessed memory) was standing outside with a few friends and she was very warm to me as well. And so, in the sight of all of them (Peter, Paul, Jude, their dancers, mom and family), I entered my battered Honda Accord and started saying a silent prayer; ‘This car please do not disgrace me in the presence of these boys with all their Range Rovers, X6 and Hummer’.

And then I turned the ignition on. NOTHING! The stupid car refused to start! I tried again and again, nothing! I wanted to enter the ground! So it was with a shamed face that I popped the hood and Peter helped me pull up the bonnet. I grabbed a stone from the ground and knocked the battery head with Paul saying to me ‘do not worry bro, it has happened to all of us’!

Thankfully the car started after several bashings to the battery with the stone and I slowly crawled out of their close.”

Now he is one of the richest comedians with the best cars in Nigeria today

Babatunde Okungbowa OJB Jezrel Ready To Come Back Home from India

Emerging feelers indicate that ailing music producer and songwriter, Babatunde Okungbowa, aka OJB Jezreel, may be traveling to India for a kidney transplant and treatment in India before the end of this week.

Although the identity of the Indian hospital that will handle the producer’s surgery has not been made known to his numerous fans, our correspondent gathered from close sources that all arrangement, regarding the hospital bills, travel expenses, his feeding and accommodation in the Asian country, has been concluded.

Jezreel was said to have spent the past weeks undergoing dialysis at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital in Ikeja. Each operation allegedly cost about N90,000 and this excludes the drugs prescribed for him by the doctors.

A timely donation of $100,000 to the OJB Fund Raising Committee by Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, early in July, had finally guaranteed the much-needed trip to India. Amaechi’s kind gesture ended several weeks of anxiety for the relatives, fans, friends, colleagues and well wishers of the producer, who were involved in a campaign to raise the sum of N15m required to cover the expenses for his treatment.

However, the donation put paid to the controversy that had previously sneaked in on members of the fund raising committee and consequently, threatened the progress of the Save-OJB campaign.

Soyinka Taught Me Acting -Yemi Solade

Top bilingual Nollywood actor, Yemi Solade, who was one of the students of the literature icon and Nobel Prize winner, Wole Soyinka, spoke with KAYODE APONMADE on radicalism, career, failed marriages and other topical issues

You actually dumped your course in Law for Theatre Arts in the university. How difficult was this decision then?
I was just a teenager; I didn’t think much of it then. I just wanted to follow a dream. It was because of Wole Soyinka who is now an icon. I wanted knowledge from him. I was a year one law student, I accosted him and told him I wanted to be his student and the only way was to abandon law, which I did. He was Head of the Department. For me, I didn’t think much about it, but any parent will think it is youthful exuberance. I did what I had to do and no regrets about it whatsoever.

What was the reaction of your parents, didn’t they frown at your decision?
I was ostracized from the family. They said since I could decide that on my own, I should fend for myself. That was the corporal punishment I got.

So, you sponsored yourself through the university.
Not really. In reaction to what I did, a lot happened. It was stormy but I survived it.
It was so strange back then that somebody would abandon a supposedly lucrative and noble course, law, for dramatic art that was seen as a course for never do-wells.

What exactly did you love about Wole Soyinka that made you take that decision?
Wole Soyinka was just an ordinary writer and lecturer back then in the University of Ife. He had not become what he is today. He had not won a Nobel prize. He was just a H.O.D. Drama, but just because I love his writing and there was this thing about him that I got fascinated about. I just wanted to tap from his pool of knowledge. This was a man that had just got a Bachelor’s degree and became a professor as far back as 1965. As a genius, I like to associate with people like that. Not only Wole Soyinka, but he was the closest I could associate with then being a student. And we all know what he has turned to be today, probably I had seen ahead of time back then. I enjoy it now when people ask me who taught me drama and I mention Wole Soyinka.

You are now a popular actor, but if it is possible to turn back the hand of the clock, would you still want to become a lawyer or an actor?
I want to become an actor, if I have a second chance, I would still want to remain an actor if I have the chance to come back to this world the second time. But I would like to do well in terms of my take home packages.
I love what I do. I am a consummate actor; I am very passionate about what I do. Otherwise, I have options. I have degrees in other fields, apart from drama, I studied other courses. I have three Masters in three courses. I have Masters in International Relations, Public Administration and Sociology. So, I could just stay in the corporate world, but I am somebody who does not like regimented kind of work. I just love to do my things in my own way. I want to sleep when I want to, wake when I want to, just do my things without anybody harassing me and I don’t want to be subservient to anybody. I don’t want anybody giving me query, I don’t want to attend meeting when I am not supposed to, and you know that’s what you find in the corporate world. I will love to do acting all over again.  It gives me pleasure; I like what it does to my soul. For the fact that I am talented with what I do makes it easier. It is  second nature and the beauty of it especially is when someone is dynamic the way I am. As an actor, you imitate, you impersonate other people in acting; this makes acting very interesting. But like I said earlier, the issue of take home pay is worrisome, but despite this I would love to do it all over again.

Apart from take home packages, what are the other challenges you face as an actor?
Well, I will say my privacy is being infringed upon. By the time one gets to a certain stage in one’s career and becomes famous, one’s privacy becomes mortgaged. But I still manage in my own way to be myself, I still go into the buka to eat and if I feel like peeing by the roadside I come out of my car and pee, this is the social content you find in Nigeria. I am not one of those actors that will tell you they can’t buy roasted plantain again. For me, I don’t suffer such. I am just myself. The other challenge is the area boys and the touts who will tell you that they buy all your movies and therefore you need to “settle” them every time they see you around. That alone pisses me off because I am not a producer, I buy these movies too. But there is nothing we can do about this. We would have to co-exist.

Why have you not produced your own movie?
Well, I do it kind of, but I am not in this profession just for the love of money. I am around what I do to make a statement. By God’s grace I have been able to make little of this statement, by the little I have done so far. I have worked with the very best in the land. And without producing a film, I am still very relevant. You see, what people do is, acting is what attracts everybody and when they come, they later discover that they can’t hold their own in acting, they run to production because they are not getting it right acting-wise. Producing is a business angle to the field though, because they are bringing in money, investing and providing employment.
But the primary focus for me is to do my acting well. However, I am not shying away from producing. My mind is ready to produce now. I have my story in this home. But I want to come out and get it right. I don’t want to produce the way lots of people produce. For instance, where I major, Yoruba-English sector – I call it that because I don’t really do the core Yoruba movies like the one they do in the village, the core Yoruba traditional movies. What I do, I tell people, is the amulumala kind of (mixture of Yoruba and English languages); this is because in most of our movies, we put on English dresses, so, that’s cosmopolitan drama. And the language is high tech.
I look at it that I am doing well in acting, but in producing, it’s highly proliferated. There are no rules, no regulations; it has become all-comers affair. It makes people like me an endanger species; people say that I am too expensive, I can’t imagine, I can’t fathom that. Let’s relate it to music -you want to hire the service of Sunny Ade, you know why you are calling him to your event, you know he will give you the best; so don’t say he is too expensive. If you want the best you must be ready to pay for the best. How do you want me to understand with you that you don’t have much money when you are expecting the best from me? But that’s the thing about Yoruba cosmology; we are a lot liberal people. It’s rub my back I rub your back kind of, but this works for people that produce all the time. I don’t produce. If I do that for everybody all the time, when it is my turn to produce, am I going to bring everybody to my picture? I don’t think this is an ideal thing, but this is what is obtained, we can’t contest that for now. I tried to raise my voice many times that I ended up running into trouble with my colleagues, they said I am high-handed, but I would continue to speak up because I am a consummate artiste who knows what he is doing, a trained dramatist and this is my field. A lot of people are encroaching probably because they don’t have anything to do or because they want the popularity for the sake of it. But I am doing it because it is my calling. It is what I was trained to do.
If I had ended up being a lawyer, maybe I would have been like Femi Falana, because the radicalism in me won’t leave any field, even if I had been a doctor, maybe I would have ended up being like Beko Ransome-Kuti.

Yemi Solade is assumed to be arrogant, high-handed and snobbish. How exactly will you describe yourself?
I will describe myself as somebody who knows what he is doing; generally, I am very professionally minded. Anybody that says anything contrary to this does not know me.
Go and ask the producers I have worked with, any producer that I worked with and had problem with, maybe as a result of not being professional. For instance, on a set where I had to use wine as prop and you are bringing tea cup, I won’t use it. This is where I can be too high-handed, because they don’t know. I am a trained dramatist. Who does not understand the component of drama? Characterisation I know. This beard a producer asked me to groom it for him. I will do it for Kunle Afolayan because he knows this job, I will do it for Tade Ogidan, I will do it for Tunde Kelani. But I won’t do it for some producers because they are not professional. I am a professional actor; I don’t care about what they say about me. I am not apologetic about it. I am who I am. But what is instructive about this is how do people see my act? If I am known as an actor who doesn’t act well, let them leave the other side and that’s the radical part of me. I don’t think I have received money from a producer without honouring our agreement. I would do your job, if I have problem there I would complain, but I would do your job as a professional. Anyway, this doesn’t bother me because you can’t just satisfy people.
People don’t just want to study my person and say he is principled because he knows what he is doing. I will speak up until we do it right, those who are criticising my radicalism where are they today? They are nowhere to be found in the industry. My speak-up serves as checks and balances in the industry -these are what Wole Soyinka taught us in school.
You see, nobody is an island of knowledge. People do correct me when I make mistakes on set and I accept. But many people don’t see it that way; they will ask if you are the only one who went to the university. But I don’t care. Let my work speak for me. I can’t go into oblivion, I am a thorough bred actor; I have no regret for my outburst. I have my shortcomings though, and I am working to improve on all that. But nobody can tell me not to open my mouth because I am an authority in what I do. I am a certified artiste.

Last year, you contested for the post of the president of Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) but you later backed out. Why did you take that decision despite the fact that you were among the favourites?
I sat down three years ago and I was wondering about this ANTP thing. I felt the way it was being run was bad. I also realised that I didn’t participate in the running of the association and lots of policies coming out of ANTP were affecting me directly, and this is one of the problems I was having with those running the association. Also, anytime I complained, they will tell me to come over so that we run it together. They will say ‘don’t just stay out there and complain to the media.’ So when Jide Kosoko replaced Bayo Salami and said well, that was an improvement in terms of power of articulation. I thought he would be more articulate than Bayo Salami going by what we celebrate in Nigeria; the art of English speaking, it is the person that speaks English language that people celebrate in Nigeria. So, I thought that when Jide Kosoko was leaving, who will replace this man? And I talked to myself that I can be of a good replacement, then move ANTP forward to the corporate world and that was the impetus, the driving force and I told Jide Kosoko himself and he was the first man to oppose it. He told me bluntly that it wasn’t my turn.
Fine, I went out talking, I started talking to the press about my ambition, what I should do, my cardinal programmes, my objectives and all of that concerning the election. But before the election came we had the gladiators who always draw daggers, every time elections came up, we have Ashaolu, we have Dele Odule, they have become the traditional candidates, year in year out and I said why should this be.
But later, some elders like Jimoh Aliu and Lere Paimo called me and appealed to me to step down so it would be narrowed down to Ashaolu and Dele Odule and I looked at them in their 70s and said okay, if that is what you want. And they told me that they still want me in that administration. Jide Kosoko said a similar thing too, and I said well, I am dynamic, I wasn’t rigid about it. If people like that talked to me that way, I wouldn’t want to have a head on-collision with them.

Were you afraid of them or what?
Afraid? The worst that would have happened was to go to the election and lose. Why should I be afraid of anybody?

Maybe you were afraid of their power and influence.
What type of power do they have? They don’t have any power. Do they have more power than I have? I have more power because I can talk better and the whole world would listen. I later settled for another office which I even discovered that I would enjoy it better than the presidency. I thought that what ANTP lacks now is proper articulation and representation. ANTP needs an erudite spokesperson. I thought that if any of these old men become the president and I become the spokesperson, people would reckon with me better. So, I settled for the post of the National Publicity Secretary and the election up till now has no head way. Ashaolu went to Ilorin for election; I was in my sitting room when they called me that I have been voted as the National Publicity Secretary. So, I should be parading myself as the national publicity secretary of the association.
But because of the crisis that’s still lingering, I decided to chill out. I don’t want to be part of anybody’s crises because I didn’t create it and I should not celebrate it. So that is it.
My first home video was Oju Inu which was a Yoruba movie, and interestingly, I was trained to act on stage with the likes of Wole Soyinka, Osofisan, Ola Rotimi and their plays are written in English language.

You are a member of ANTP, NANTAP and AGN, and you actually started with English plays. Why did you dump the genre to associate with Yoruba movie sector?
Yoruba actor, and an English actor, I don’t understand that concept. I knock it off. Regardless of what film you do, an actor is an actor. I don’t know where the issue of language becomes a barrier and demarcation. I tell people that we don’t shoot English movies in Nigeria, but either Igbo-English, Niger-Delta English or Yoruba- English or Hausa-English movies, because what you call English movies you see one section of the region and this is reflective in the drama. So when people tell me they don’t see me in English movies, I tell them, maybe when Sean Connery calls me or Nicholas Cage or Brad Pitt call me I would appear in English movies. But here we shoot Nigerian movies. So, let’s stop fooling ourselves. I will not accept when you call RMD an English actor, he is a Delta actor, Olu Jacobs is a Yoruba actor, KOK is an Ibo actor.

Before you got married to your current wife, you’ve already experienced two failed marriages. What were the experiences like and why did you choose to get married the third time?
You see, when certain things are not meant to be, there is no amount of work you put into that will work. I was finding my bearing, I wasn’t stable. It was a lot difficult to run a home. But at the appointed time, I am speaking spiritually now, when God said, you are looking for a wife and you, you need a husband, okay, I give you this person and that was God who did it for me and that is why it is working.
When I met her, it was her beauty that attracted me to her, I like every good thing of life, my wife is beautiful, I said half caste, but I was afraid to talk to her because I don’t have that kind of money she may want, but when I summoned the courage to approach her, she shocked me with her simplicity and humility and we became friends and later got married.

A handsome man like you is presumed a ladies’ man, what were your experiences with female admirers back then in your school days and now?
Back then in school, I used to travel out of school with girls, I remember when I was in part one in the university, my father brought police to arrest a lady I was staying in her house. I started having girlfriend at the age of 13; older girls had taught me something about sex as young as I was then.

I just received a phone call on your behalf from a girl who is trying to date you.  Is this what you encounter all the time and how do you manage it?
I enjoy it, you see when they call and tell me they like me I enjoy it, and I try to be civil with it because I know they like what I do and admire me, that is why they call me to tell me this. That person that calls might be somebody who may be useful in other areas, apart from sleeping with each other. I try to be calm and be civil, but when I realise this person is going too far. I will cut off the conversation.

Fatai Rolling Dollars Ressurects in New Movie

Late Highlife icon, Fatai Rolling Dolla, will resurrect in the debut movie of actress and producer, Funmi Fiberesima.
The new movie titled Onikola, according to Funmi, is about genital mutilation. She said the movie deals with the harmful side effects of female circumcision without flogging the viewers over the head with the message.
“Onikola is a very entertaining-romantic movie complete with all the elements that bring it home as a unique and entertaining flick. It is the kind of movie that would make us proud in our heritage and provoke the minds of Africans to think about the evil of female circumcision,” Funmi said.
She added that the movie weaves a blend of iconic and traditional scenes with compelling story of love without losing sight of the issue, and promises to meet the expectations of the Yoruba movie goers.
Shot in Iseyin, Oyo State, Onikola was written by Gbenga Adesanya, Steve Anu Adesemoye and Abosede Oshin. It also features Funmi Fiberesima; Dejumo Lewis; Ara, the female drummer; Sunday Afolabi, Ronke Ojo, Ibrahim Chatta, Muyiwa Londoner and Yinka Salau alongside his colleagues from the Next Movie Star reality show.
The movie will be released in cinemas before the end of the year.
Meanwhile, Symbol of Greatness Team, a non-government organisation, plans to hold a three-day concert in honour of the late highlife music icon, Prince Olayiwola Fatai Olagungu, known as Fatai Rolling Dollar.
The president of the group, Seyi Ibitoye said the association  had planned to celebrate Fatai Rolling Dollar’s 60 years of active music on stage  before his death on 12 June.
Ibitoye said the group is now set to hold a tribute concert in honour of the late musician from Friday, 30 August to Sunday, 1 September.
While a candlelight night is billed to hold on Friday in African Shrine, a tribute match between members of Performing Musicians Employee Association of Nigeria and Nollywood  is expected to hold the next day at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.
Also scheduled to hold in honour of the late musician is the launch of a music foundation, the pet project of the musician before his death, fundraising and award ceremony, at the Lagos Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Ibitoye said the presentation of the awards will be done by Alhaja Abimbola Zainab Olagunju, the youngest wife of the late Juju music icon,
He added that the music school is built to immortalise the late musician, disclosing that the musician had started the music foundation project in his lifetime with the aim of giving back to the society.
“Fatai Rolling Dollar decided to build a music school where aspiring musicians can come and learn good music and be trained to use various musical instruments. Unfortunately, he died before the completion of the project which is sited in Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
“Even though he is gone his legacy lives on. That is why we as a team deem it fit not to stop the project. Even his death is a motivating factor for us. Corporate organisations and Individuals should come and support this legend’s dream,” Ibitoye said.

We Are Not Involved In Auto Mobile Acccident - Aki And Pawpaw

Star Nollywood actor, Chinedu Ikedieze popularly known as Aki, has debunked rumour flying round that he and his 'cohort', Pawpaw were allegedly involved in an auto crash on their way to Niger State for a movie shoot.

The rumour, as gathered by Us, sprung up from a purported Facebook page of Bukky Wright, which a source close to the actress has denied to come from the sexy seasoned actress.

It was scooped that the purported post alleged that Aki and Pawpaw were involved in a ghastly road accident and the Nollywood stars rushed to the hospital for treatment.
when speaking with Us when contacted to confirm the story, Aki vehemently denied being involved in a car crash as reported in some sections.

An unhappy Aki wondered why some people would wish bad for their fellow human beings. He frowned at some bloggers who just write to draw traffic to their blogs.

If You Slap Me, I Will Still Clean Your Shoes--Don Jazzy Replies Eedris Abdulkareem

Controversial rapper, Eedris Abdukareem, who has been fighting hard lately to bring back his already nosedived music career, picked on Don Jazzy when he dissed him in a new song. The issue cropped up online some hours ago on some blogs.

In his usual matured way of handling hot issues, the Mavin Records boss replied the rapper, who once had issues with American rapper, 50 Cent, which began the wreck of his music career few years ago.

"Baba (referring to Eedris), if you wooz (slap)me, I go still bend down clean your shoe o. I hail. Love your new jam, keep the flag flying boss. God bless," a composed Delta State-born Don Jazzy tweeted online.

Eedris is not new to controversies. He once had problem with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who slammed him for his 'Jagajaga' hit single some years ago.

Some have described Don Jazzy's response as matured, which may likely humiliate Eedris' ego.

The part 4 is expected to showcase the new life of Jenifa in the United States of America after her travails in part 1,2 and 3.

Shan George’s passion for music received a boost last Saturday, when the actress mounted the stage to perform at the Bowler Hats bash held at Niteshift Coliseum, Ikeja, Lagos.

Dressed in an evening outfit, Shan George rocked the stage with her trending song, “Ababa.” Though, her performance rarely moved the audience, she however, gave a good account of herself on stage.

Shan George released her debut single a few years ago to register her presence in the nation’s music scene. But unfortunately, she did not go far with her music as events later proved that music is not her calling.

While on stage, the actress blamed the DJ’s, and marketers for her inability to hold her own in the music world. Her single was released almost at the same time Tonto Dikeh and Stella Damasus released theirs.

Commenting on the Bowler Hats Bash, its founder and boss of Contacts Communication, Azuh Amatus, disclosed that his love and passion for hats brought about the highly commendable initiative.

Nollywood Sexiest:Kalu Igeagwu And Anita Joseph Drop

No stars dropped from the quest last weeks because of a popular demand which saw us profiling how each star stands, as regards the voting so far. But same cannot be said of this week with two more stars; a man and a woman dropping from the quest.

The two stars who are waving us farewell are Kalu Ikeagwu and Anita Joseph. Kalu had it long coming but Anita had it so good at the beginning but somewhere along the line she seemed to lose the steam to continue.

We now have 19 men and 19 women left to slug it out all the way. Really, the picture is still very much the same like last week except for some few changes.
ANITA-KALU

Yul Edochie still have the front row seat, like last week, like a man on a cruise control but the women category is a bit more intense. The most active person this week for the women is Yvonne Nelson, the Ghanaian screen goddess added some more cylinders to her throttles. She was quite out outstanding and if she continues at that rate, Tonto may just have to watch her back soon enough.

Another woman who came calling with serious intent at the crown is Stephanie Okereke. If Yvonne was outstanding she was no push-over either. She got more votes than any other week before now.

People to watch include Queeneth Hilbert, Rita Dominic, Jackie Appiah, Frank Artus, Benson Okonkwo and Mike Ezuruonye. Angela Okorie too has also found her way out of the Drop Zone, after putting up an impressive outing this week.

Yvonne Okoro, who aught to have dropped since is now an item to behold. She has not only moved out of the Drop Zone, she is also seriously running into the league of the top contenders.

These following stars have been rather lukewarm, blowing neither hot nor cold. They include Chita Agwu, Biodun Okeowo, Chita Agatha, Queen Nwokoye, and Maureen Cyril for the women. For the men, we have Pat Attah, Sunkanmi Omobolanle, O.C. Ukeje and Alex Ekubo, who moved from Drop Zone to Safe Zone a coule of weeks back.

Who goes down next week? Your guess is as good as mine. But you can be sure we will have evictions. The only question is who. Keep voting.

Church Angry With Ngozi Nwozu For Returning to Set Hastily

There are indications that the pastor and members of Christ Tabernacle International Christian Center, Maryland, Ikeja, are not happy with their celebrity church member, NgoziNwosu. This is due to the fact that Ngozi`s brethren believe the ailing actress who had just undergone kidney operations in UK is not fit enough to start work this soon. It is widely reported that Ngozi, soon after her return from the UK hospital, had returned to the set of popular TV Series, Fuji House of Commotion. The church is led by Prophet David Emmanuel Bassey.

A reliable source who is a prominent member in the church revealed to NOLLYWOOD INSIDER last week that, “As I speak with you; its baffling to the church, the pastor and his wife that Ngozi had returned to work when she is not physically fit. This is a woman who can't even stand up on her feet for too long. When you see her stand or walk, she wobbles. What is she looking for or doing on a movie set so early? Or does she want to kill herself?”

Meanwhile, Ngozi is said to have donated the sum of N1m to the church on the day of her thanksgiving service. But what is not clear to NI as at the time of going to press is if the once robust and bubbly actress has paid the promised sum.

The unfolding event buttresses the earlier claim to NI in a previous report on the actress, by her one time councilor nurse at the Medical Center Yaba, that Ngozi has always been a stubborn person. If not, as the source puts it, why on earth would she take on such a suicidal mission that could easily terminate her life?

However, when NI called Ngozi to felicitate with heron her birthday and to get her comment on her church worries over her health and immediate return to set, she replied from her U.K abode, “Thanks. I can't speak to you now. Call me next week when I come back to Nigeria”

Hear What Actress Benita Nzeribe Has To Say About Funke Akindele's Marriage Breakup : I Can Marry Marry A Wheelbarrow Pusher

The break in Funke Akindele’s marriage seems to be the beginning of wisdom to some Nollywood thespians. One of them is sultry actress, Benita Nzeribe who recently confessed that all she looks for in a marriage is true love and not material things. Benita, a spinster poured out her mind on what true love and marriage should be.

Hear her, “If I have to say the truth, marriage is not all about money or the little things of life. We should marry for real love. That is why I see myself as being able to marry whoever I am in love with, no matter his status in life. That is to say, even if the guy is a wheelbarrow pusher, I would marry him so long as my heart is with him.”

If truly this is her understanding, how come Benita is still searching? Does this mean that wheelbarrow pushers have not approached her? Hmmm! NollyRasmattaz!

Top Actress, Bukky Wright Loses N40m To Con Men

Story by Alonge Michael

Top actress and producer, Bukky Wright is at the moment in sobriety over the loss of over N40m to conmen who approached and talked her to buy a property in Lagos recently.

The Yoruba actress and Chivita brand ambassador we gathered from reliable sources, was still in shock over the huge amount of money she was skillfully swindled of a couple of weeks ago.

According to the source, Bukky was said to have been approached to acquire a house by a close family friend, the said person was so close to Bukky to the extent that every secret is kept with her.

Bukky, out of ignorance, came to Nigeria, inspected the said property, having been well satisfied with it, and wrote a cheque of N40m to the swindlers and since then nothing has been heard about it.

When Bukky tried all avenues to retrieve her hard-earned money back, it was said to have yielded no positive result and just recently, Bukky decided to swallow the bitter pill by bringing a closure to the deal gone sour.

“It was at the beginning of this Ramadan season that Bukky resolved to leave everything in God’s hands,” a source in America told us.

Meanwhile, some of the friends of the actress who got wind of the incident said, Bukky kept mum over the case because she doesn’t want it in the press; the reason is because, she might be queried how she got a whopping N40m to buy a house.

There are also rumours that, one of her ex flames in government might have been one of the sources that coughed out the said money for the house.

However, Bukky Wright is a top actress in Nollywood, she has produced some movies valued at over N100m, so N40m shouldn’t be an issue in this situation after all, and she is also engaged to a rich dude who resides in America.

Pastor's Did Not Mean Give Your Body , When They Say "Give and You Shall Recieves -Tonto Dikeh

Most controversial Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh is sure turning to something else in the industry. On her twitter timeline recently, she tweeted to educate or preach to women that when their pastor says give and you shall receive does not mean that the person has to give her body for money.

Read her tweets here, "Pals Wen a Pastor says, "Give and you shall receive", he did not mean u should give ur body & receive money #POKO"

She also said that the only person a woman listens to and obey whatever instruction given is a photographer. She is really right about this; right ?

After Losing Husband To Stella Damasus, Doris Simon Now Dating a Married Man

Dog eat dog is the name of the game in the entertainment industry in Nigeria as some of the ladies often go to battle with themselves in the dirty game of cheating.

You just can’t afford to support anyone or take sides with one of these ladies as the good wife you are taking sides with might just be getting screwed by another woman’s husband secretly…

As such, we are not taking the latest gist in town about actress Doris Simeon with the pinch of salt. Doris has been lonely for sometime now courtesy of her husband, Daniel Ademinokan, dumping her for fellow actress and mother of two kids, Stella Damasus, under controversial circumstances.

Many had thought that Doris would move on and settle down with a single guy since she is still kind of young but that doesn’t seem to be the case. We learnt Doris is now “enjoying” herself with a rich Newspaper Editor, who is married with children and some say the man’s wife has already gotten wind of the amorous affair.

She is said to be planning a “surprise” for Doris and her husband in one of their usual hot-spot. If true, we hope Doris Simeon will end this ‘drama’ before it causes her more trouble.

Dbanj and Don Jazzy reunite, perform “Fall in Love” at sister’s wedding

Former Mo’Hits Records partners Don Jazzy and D’Banj have been pictured together for the first time since breaking up in March 2012.

The erstwhile partners met up at D’banj‘s younger sister’s wedding to Cool FM’s Dotun today, August 3, 2013 at The Grandeur Event Centre, Ikeja, Lagos.

The top producer at Mavin Records and top recording artiste at DB Records shocked guests when they got on stage and performed some of their hit duets including ‘Mr Endowed‘, ‘Fall in love‘ and ‘Suddenly‘ for the new couple.

Although the pair have met a couple of times since parting ways, it is the first time they’re performing together.

It was not clear as at yesterday if Don Jazzy would attend the wedding. But those familiar with the producer say it’s no surprise he joined the Oyebanjos for what’s an important celebration. ‘Don Jazzy is part of the family. What has happened has happened, but Jazzy was quite close to the family and D’Banj’s mom was like the mother of Mohits‘, a source disclosed.

D’banj who confessed he’s ‘extremely happy’, about the surprise reunion also presented the couple with a brand new Honda CRV.
Don Jazzy and D’banj’s relationship collapsed controversially last year. Label-mates and collaborators like Dr SID, D’Prince and Wande Coal took sides with Don Jazzy while younger brother KaySwitch pitched tents with D’banj.
Sources told us reliably D’banj had initially planned to bring out Don Jazzy on stage to his DKM concert earlier this year, but that plan did not materialize

Another Wizkid Imposter Nabbed

Weeks after an impostor who claimed to be the talented singer, Ayo Balogun popularly known as Wizkid defrauded students of the University of Lagos (Unilag) of the sum of N500,000,00 as full payment for a show tagged “ Concert for Life”, the ugly incident has repeated itself.

Wizkid

This time around, the victims are not Unilag students, but an Owerri,Imo State-based businessman, Chief Chukwudi Ofoha. He is the CEO of Ibari Ogwa, a popular hangout located in the World Bank area of Owerri.

Showtime gathered that the impostor who claimed to be Wizkid was contracted by one Mr. Ugochukwu Favour Mayor on behalf of Chief Ofoha for a show at the hangout.  The impostor  is said to have charged the latter the sum of N1million. And in sealing the deal, an   advance payment of N300,000,00 was allegedly paid into the impostor’s  UBA account.

An insider told Showtime that shortly after the payment was made, the impostor  switched off his cell phone, thereby raising the suspicion that he was not the real Wizkid.

Based on this development, the CEO of Ibari Ogwa is said to have arrested and detained Mr Mayor at the State CID in Owerri.

Meanwhile, a source who confirmed  the development to Showtime during the week hinted that the impostor is still demanding for the balance of N700,000,00 from his victim.

According to the source, the Police are already investigating the matter. But  series of efforts made at press time to contact Wizkid proved abortive

Last month, the  hit-maker granted journalists an interview where he decried his continuous impersonation by fraudsters. Bugged by increasing complaints and reported incidents, Wizkid  expressed worry that some bandits would go to any length to perpetrate evil acts and defraud innocent fans and customers. Interestingly, one of the impostors was recently nabbed in Lagos.

Rihanna Wins Her £3MILLION Legal Battle

Rihanna has won her High Court legal battle against fashion chain Topshop over T-shirts bearing her image. The singer sued the high-street store’s parent company Arcadia for £3.3million over the T-shirts, which featured a photo taken of the star during a video shoot in Northern Ireland in 2011.

Topshop had disputed the claim, but Mr Justice Birss today ruled in favour of the singer in the High Court after a hearing in London.

He said Topshop’s sale of a Rihanna T-shirt had been an act of “passing off”, and that a “substantial number” of customers were likely to have bought the T-shirt of a “false belief” that it had been authorised by the singer.

The judge added that was damaging to her “goodwill” and represented a loss of control of her reputation in the fashion sphere.

He said it was for the singer not Topshop to choose what garments the public thought had her endorsement.
